CANADIAN PROJECT A MODEL FOR JUSTICE SECTOR REFORM
August 2016 marked one year of justice education society project on the ground in Guyana and the midpoint of the Canadian Funded Initiative which was approved in early 2015.
The project, valued at $106 million GYD is Canada’s largest bilateral project with Guyana.
Its goal is to develop the technical capacity of the police, police prosecutors, state prosecutors and magistrates to collect, analyse and present forensic evidence as a means of decreasing impunity rates.
Canada's High Commissioner Pierre Giroux gave the project 10 out of 10 for its concept, remarking that while only halfway through in Guyana, it has already helped the Guyana Police Force solve several high profile cases.
