The first time participant is hoping to advance to the finals, as he eyes the coveted title. 26 year old, Quacey Coates says he is all set for the semi- finals of the Carib Soca Monarch competition in Berbice.

Coates, who is a technical operator at the National Communications Network, will be performing his song “Work It”. Coates believes he has what it takes to win the competition

“I have real confidence in myself, I think I am a great artiste and I have a great song and people love it so I think I have a great chance of winning come the 16 of February.”

Meanwhile, his NCN colleagues expressed their support. Come what may, Coates says he is here to stay in the music industry.  17 persons will compete in the semi final round of the Carib Soca monarch competition in Berbice tomorrow night.

However, only 12 persons will make it through to the finals on February 16 at the National Park. There, they will come up against reigning monarch Jumo Primo.
