Guyana to observe day of mourning for Chavez

Cabinet Secretary, Dr. Roger Luncheon has announced that Guyana will observe a national day of mourning on Friday March 8, for the late Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.

At his weekly post cabinet media briefing Dr. Luncheon said the national flag will be flown at half mast on Friday in honour of the late leader of Guyana’s continental neighbor and friend of Guyana.

Guyana’s President Donald Ramotar is currently in Venezuela, for the funeral of the late President Chavez, which will take place tomorrow

Guyanese are among millions around the world in mourning the loss of President Chavez who died on Tuesday at the age of 58 after a two-year battle with cancer

Guyana and Venezuela are sharing very close bilateral relations, with this country benefitting significantly from the Spanish-speaking South American nation.
