M&CC pleads with public as garbage trucks remain in workshop

The Georgetown Mayor and City Council is pleading with the public, particularly to those who are affected by delays in the collection of garbage for their understanding and patience.

The council says it continues to experience challenges in procuring spares for its trucks used to provide the service to citizens.

In a press release, the council stated that some of these parts cannot be sourced locally which is posing a serious problem to the effective and efficient maintenance of its vehicles.

The council adds that it is doing everything to have all of its trucks working at optimum and to provide the vital service to all citizens.

Five trucks are currently in the mechanical workshop while two are working.

Notwithstanding that, Cevons Waste Management and Puran Brothers are providing collection service to some areas.

Areas affected include West Ruimveldt, East Ruimveldt, East La Penitence, Castello Housing Scheme, North East La penitence, Queenstown and Alberttown.
