New local radio station launched
Radio Guyana Incorporated (RGI) was yesterday launched, and is the first of new radio Licensees to commence operations.
The radio station which is based at TVG, located at Camp and Quamina streets, is currently broadcasting on 89.5 Megahertz (Mhz) and 89.7mhz.
In January, the government of Guyana issued licences to ten entities to operate radio stations.
According to a press release, the station will provide twenty four hours of several genres and styles of music, and also daily religious segments, incorporating the three main religious groups
It added that though primarily musical, accommodation will be made for the airing of public information including, but not limited to public service announcements, bridge and weather reports.
