Managing Director of the Guyana Oil Company (GUYOIL); Badri Persaud has refuted claims that there is a shortage of fuel. He explained that the company is selling at a cheaper cost as opposed to its competitors; therefore there is an increase in demand at the gas stations.

Mr. Persaud added that as a result of the rising demand, dealers are requesting more than their weekly supply, however, their demands cannot be met.

He noted that the other gasoline dealers have change their prices per shipment, but GUYOIL has maintained its price and is in the process of increasing its supply to facilitate the expanding market.

One of its vessels is expected to arrive from Venezuela early next week with some 30 thousand barrels of gasoline.

GUYOIL currently sells gasoline at $980 per gallon, while Rubis for $1115 per gallon, and Shell for $1060 per gallon.
